It seems that green energy and sustainability are the construction buzz words, as people look increasingly for outstanding and proactive environmental policies.
At Lightwater Quarries and Concrete4U we take sustainability very seriously. The preservation of the local environment has always been important to us and our philosophies are deeply ingrained into the ethos of the company. We support the local community, with whom we work very closely, to improve the area and minimise the environmental impact of essential quarrying.
Highacre Builders, a sister company, also shares our ethos. When Highacre built the newest property development and village hall in North Stainley, the local community was kept fully informed and involved, and is now enjoying the benefits of sustainably built homes, a town hall and other investments made in Lavender Lane, at their request.
Lightwater Quarries and Concrete4U work across North Yorkshire in a way that minimises our impact on the environment. We have several on-going initiatives from the installation of solar panels to planting trees and monitoring veteran trees. We are very proud of these projects, which operate alongside our ongoing commitment to reducing carbon emissions with efficient route planning and our multi drop policy, as well as providing the highest standards of customer service.
We have a badger set, a sand martin habitat and have carried out full restoration of the quarry in areas where we have completed work, which has been returned to limestone grassland providing the ideal habitat for many rare insects and plants. We are the industry exception in terms of sustainable development. The above examples are just the tip of the iceberg on our journey to being the most eco friendly and sustainable concrete and quarrying business in the UK.
Lightwater Quarries and Concrete4U continuously demonstrate how a business of this nature can give back to the environment. We go above and beyond in our environmental responsibilities and we work with commitment to show this to our customers and to the communities with whom we live and work.
